Chapter 1702: Central Battlefield

Sein’s next combat assignment arrived swiftly.

On a frontline battlefield like this, there was scarcely any room for idle hands.

Since Sein had suffered only minimal injuries in previous engagements, his next mission was naturally assigned ahead of many others.

This time, Sein himself was ordered to head to the center of the subspace battlefield to support Feylis and the others fighting there.

As for the Divine Tower of Ashes Army under his command, they would continue their steady advance.

The legion’s upcoming operations carried relatively low risk, as they would remain coordinated with knights and allied creatures.

Before departing, Sein gave the matter some thought and ultimately decided not to bring Yuri along. She would remain at the Ashen Fortress instead.

The central subspace battlefield was dominated by Rank Five and Rank Six combatants.

Even with the Burning Flame Unit, Yuri would have limited usefulness in engagements of that rank.

More importantly, worrying about her safety would only distract Sein.

The only companion accompanying him was Fermera.

Sein’s primary objective was to relieve Feylis of some of the pressure she faced in combat.

In addition to Fermera, Sein decided to bring along the super bomb he had been refining for some time.

The super bomb had already proven its terrifying power by severely wounding Fermera before.

The version he now possessed should be even more destructive than before, thanks to improvements in both materials and technical refinement.

With a weapon of such power, Sein could not guarantee flawless timing during its deployment.

As a precaution, he summoned Fermera before departing and loaded the super bomb into the launcher mounted on her arm.

“You still remember these magic bombs, right?” Sein asked casually after securing it in place.

“Yeah,” Fermera replied, glancing at her arm. “The destructive power was insane, and it hurt like hell.”

Sein nodded. “That’s why you must choose the right moment to unleash it, and leave the blast zone immediately afterward.”

“I don’t want you getting blown up again,” he added, meeting Fermera’s gaze.

Fermera lowered her head and nodded slowly. “Understood.”

Sein patted her shoulder. “The Magic Cube has not completed its upgrade yet, so I can’t bring it along this time.”

“Once the upgrade is complete, integrating it into your body should bring even greater enhancements. I look forward to that day,” he said.

Sein led Fermera toward the central battlefield quietly. Many mages remained unaware that their tower master had temporarily left the Ashen Fortress.

Only a handful knew that Sein was gone—like Yuri, as she had been left to guard the fortress.

Needless to say, she was in a foul mood. She had never felt this way before, not even when Kram or Princess Gwyneira had been by Sein’s side.

When it came to that eight-winged angel, Yuri felt only wariness and resentment.

Was it because Fermera also possessed the ability to harness the Magic Cube’s energy?

That was likely only part of it. What mattered to Yuri more was the privilege of being at Sein’s side all the time.

“I need to become stronger!” Yuri clenched her right fist tightly, recognizing that the greatest gap between herself and Fermera lay not in appearance or anything superficial, but in strength.

As Yuri entered the special training chamber to sharpen her mental focus, the Burning Flame Unit moved into the mobile suit bay at her command to repair the damage she had sustained earlier and evaluate possible upgrades.

Seeing the small pile of Energy Amethysts, the Burning Flame Unit fell into deep thought.

Times were hard; even machines were not spared from competition.

For the Burning Flame Unit, the most direct route to greater power was upgrading into a Rank Five mecha through direct modifications or mounting higher-tier weaponry.

But neither was possible for now. Yuri’s current mental focus level was insufficient to pilot a Rank Five mecha.

Moreover, Sein had no means at present to commission Steel City to carry out the modifications required to upgrade herself into a Rank Five mecha.

And so, Burning Flame could only rely on herself.

While her master meditated, Burning Flame fed one Energy Amethyst after another into her energy conversion core.

When Sein arrived at the central battlefield of the subspace, he was unaware that his maid and her mecha were training themselves like crazy.

The battlefield where Sein now stood lay around the ruins of the Grandlight Tech Center.

Within this subspace of the Eiyurant Papillon Civilization, there were two core battlefields where multiple Rank Six beings were locked in fierce combat.

One of them was precisely where Sein had arrived.

The other lay deeper within the heart of the Steel Ruins. After prolonged stalemates, the Magus Civilization had confirmed the presence of an overlord-class biological warship belonging to the Black Merlot Civilization there.

Compared to that warship, however, the ruins of the Grandlight Tech Center clearly commanded greater attention from both sides.

The most telling sign was Feylis herself, the commander of this subspace battlefield, personally entering the fray.

Upon reaching the area, Sein quickly spotted his grandmaster.

Around Feylis, almost a third of the sky above the Grandlight Tech Center was blanketed in crimson fire clouds.

Facing her was a foreign powerhouse in heavy gray armor with Lightning Ax in hand, standing conspicuously amidst a dense swarm of federal vessels.

It was Seiron, the peak Rank Six being from Arid Expanse World—someone Sein had heard of long ago.

Beyond these two Rank Six powerhouses, Sein sensed at least five additional Rank Six combat fluctuations amidst the chaos.

Four belonged to the Magus Civilization, while only one originated from a Rank Six mobile suit of the Gallant Federation.

Although the Gallant Federation fielded few Rank Six combatants, its fleet presence across the surrounding battlefield was overwhelming.

There were even rumors that among the enemy forces entering subspace this time was a formidable fleet commanded by a five-star general.

The combat strength of such a fleet could rival that of a peak Rank Six creature.

No wonder Feylis and the others were fighting under such intense pressure, despite holding numerical superiority.

Beyond Rank Six powerhouses, the surrounding battlefield teemed with countless Rank Four and Rank Five combat fluctuations.

Sein even spotted two familiar figures on this battlefield—Darian Wraith and Karl.

The Rank Five Shadowbat Civilization powerhouse was driving his Phantom Chariot with his Batwing Helmet on, while the Rank Five Klytheran warrior was clad in his usual blue, tight-fitting combat suit with a red cape billowing behind him.

After briefly assessing everyone’s positions, Sein turned to Fermera at his side and said, “Go assist them!”
