First, there were three of them due to Triplicate, then when he activated Seven Killings, they multiplied into twenty-one Small Locust Blades!

He willed the twenty-one Small Locust Blades to fly in organized unison using the Spiritual Energy he had absorbed to cultivate the Black Mountain Scripture.

The effects of the Black Mountain Scripture had increased his strength to 150% of his starting value. This increase in power allowed him to control his Divine Weapon with ease. He could already envision the flabbergasted expressions on his opponents’ faces when he summoned all 21 Small Locust Blades.

Recalling them, he grabbed a bunch of Steel Beetle carapace balls from the urn on his waist to upgrade the Small Locust Blade, as its rank had reset after becoming a Divine-grade Divine Weapon.

As it absorbed the carapace balls, Han Wu noticed a problem. When his Small Locust Blade had been a mere Faith-grade Divine Weapon, a huge fused ball was enough to increase its rank by 1. After upgrading, however, this didn’t increase the meter past a tenth of the way to rank up.

Han Wu decided to put all the carapace balls he had into the Small Locust Blade, but even thousands of catties worth only increased its rank by 1. It seemed he would need ten times more resources to upgrade it this time. Collecting the carapace of Steel Beetles was too inefficient at this point.

As Han Wu was pondering his next course of action, Master Ou cried out, “I did it!”

Master Ou had completed the upgrades on Locust-V and was gleefully presenting it to Han Wu. The original silver-white sheen of Locust-V had been stained blood-red as if to reflect its more bloodthirsty nature, and when he touched it, three effects appeared.

[2: Blood Essence (Divine): Absorbs blood and turns it into essence. Can convert the blood of those hit by the Divine Weapon within a specific radius and turn it into essence needed to upgrade Divine Weapons.]

[3: Bloodburst (Divine): Infuse bullets with the properties of Blood Absorption and Bloodburst. Once hit by a bullet, the bullet will absorb blood from the target before exploding. The more blood it absorbed, the bigger the explosion.]

Han Wu greedily eyed the three effects, wanting to have them all. Unfortunately, he was forced to choose only one.

The first effect turned blood into Bloodbane Bullets that wouldn’t consume the durability of the Divine Weapon. It complemented Infinite Firepower well and allowed it to fire without cooldown, making it extremely effective against larger groups.

The second effect, on the other hand, turned blood into essence to upgrade Locust-V. While it didn’t increase its firepower, it did have utility in saving Han Wu time and resources needed to upgrade it. The more intense the battles, the faster it could upgrade itself. Under prolonged battles, Locust-V could be his fastest-growing Divine Weapon.

Finally, the third effect increased its killing power. The effects of Bloodburst were most prominent in combat against tougher enemies. However, as Han Wu already had the Explosive Locust Blade, he ignored the third option.

Han Wu wavered between the first two options before eventually choosing the second. Gathering the resources to upgrade them would become more difficult as he unlocked more Divine Weapons. It would greatly reduce his burden if Locust-V were self-sufficient.

Pleased with the upgrade, Han Wu smiled.

Master Ou sighed with relief when he saw that expression. This was the first time he had upgraded an unfamiliar Divine Weapon, and he was glad that everything went well.

The two cheerfully exited from the room. Everyone in the Noir Group was relieved. It appeared that Han Wu was satisfied with the materials. Fearing that Master Ou had reported him, Boss Hui quickly stopped the two.

“Master, I’ve booked the best table in Kang City’s best restaurant to celebrate the success of your upgrades,” Boss Hui said in a rush. “Please do enjoy yourself!”

Han Wu ignored him, instead turning to address Master Ou, “Thank you, Master Ou, for your help. I’m certain that the Noir Group will be more than happy to pay for your services.”

The head of the Noir Group stepped forward and patted his chest. “Don’t worry, Sir, we won’t shortchange Master Ou for his services.”

Then, turning to one of his underlings, he shouted, “What are you waiting for? Go and take Master Ou’s money. Take one—No, make it three thousand gold coins!”

The huge sum was intended not merely to pay for Master Ou’s services, but also as an incentive for him not to rat on them to Han Wu.

“Master Ou, is that enough money?” Han Wu asked.

Master Ou nodded. “That’s more than enough.”

Pleased, Han Wu grabbed Qin Shuang’s hand and headed for the exit.

“Actually, I have a request,” Master Ou called out, halting them in their tracks.

Everyone from the Noir Group panicked.

Master Ou ignored the Noir Group as he approached Han Wu, “I can tell that you’re powerful, so I’m hoping that you won’t mind hearing me out. I’m willing to give you all of the materials in my warehouse as payment, regardless of the outcome. I’ll also accompany you on this mission.”

“What is it that you need?” Han Wu asked, intrigued.

“I need your help to retrieve my master’s bones.”

“Please elaborate.”

Both the leader and Boss Hui sighed once they realized it wasn’t about their Noir Group!
