Bei Yuan was a terrifying place. Its abyss was filled with all sorts of deadly evil and corrupted qi. During combat though, he noticed that this Water Demon Ape was unusual in the sense that it was more intelligent than your average Water Demon Ape. That was why he had purposely held back and left it alive when he could have killed it long before it tried to escape.

Despite this, he was still surprised to be proven correct.

Ye Qing asked, “Do you know how to speak?” “Ook ook... know... know a bit.”

The Water Demon Ape opened its mouth and spoke in the human language. Its voice resembled an eight or nine years old child’s.

“You can speak too?” The interest in Ye Qing’s eyes grew. “You are cruel and violent. You even ate humans. I was going to kill you...”

“Come with me!” Ye Qing ordered and turned around to walk toward Feng Qingyou. He didn’t even spare the Water Demon Ape a glance.

If the Water Demon Ape was a non-intelligent Stranger or semi-intelligent Stranger, then it would have failed to recognize the danger and tried to run away. However, this Water Demon Ape wasn’t just sapient, it was fairly intelligent. Its watery eyes twirled round and round as it considered its options, and in the end it chose to follow Ye Qing instead of running away.

Ye Qing smiled and paid it no heed. He turned to Feng Qingyou and told her about the Water Demon Ape.

“It’s fully sapient, huh This is interesting.” Feng Qingyou looked behind her and cast the Water Demon Ape a glance—it was currently following behind Bai Ai—and remarked smilingly, “If you are right, then our journey may turn out to be much smoother than anticipated.”

“I think so too,” Ye Qing replied with a chuckle.

For some reason, their laughter gave the Water Demon Ape a bad feeling.

It was its sixth sense warning him about something.
