“So this is the place.” Not long after King Taishan disappeared, dozens of silhouettes stepped out of nothingness and appeared above the Yellow Spring. It was the spot where King Taishan had disappeared to.

The Chief Libationist smiled. “As for when, it was only a while ago.” By that, he meant after the incident regarding Emperor Jing Run and before the coronation ceremony began.

The Old Heavenly Master asked, “What did you promise him to get him to help you?”

“His life, and Fengdu.”

The Chief Libationist explained, “You should already know about the grudge between the Great Emperor of Fengdu and King Taishan. The day King Taishan recovers his strength is the day the Great Emperor of Fengdu dies. If the Great Emperor of Fengdu wishes to live, he must either commit himself to King Taishan completely or take him out. “That is why I promised him that I would aid him in taking full control of the city of Fengdu and make him a true great emperor of Fengdu if he assists me in eliminating King Taishan.”

“No,” The Chief Libationist declared. “The Great Emperor of Fengdu is not King Taishan. He cannot overcome the heavens, much less threaten the human race. It is simply beyond him.”

“Besides, our world needs a city of Fengdu and a place of rebirth. What do you think will happen if humans and ghosts are forced to live on the same plane? It’s going to be pure chaos, isn’t it?”

“You are right, Chief Libationist.”

Xuanyuan Wang said thoughtfully, “We do need a Fengdu especially considering that the age of chaos is upon us.”

“A Fengdu that benefits us and is under our control is undoubtedly a net gain.”

“That does sound fantastic. Your foresight is as impressive as ever, Yinghu.” The Old Heavenly Master said while stroking his beard, “I was thinking about wiping out Fengdu completely after eliminating King Taishan, but your plan is obviously better.”

The Sages could not help but exchange glances with each other after hearing this. They didn’t think that the old man would still be this bloodthirsty even though it had been decades since he retired to the Heavenly Master Mansion.

“The time is right. We can move now.”
