Chapter 1709: Joint Assault
The God of Decay was a Rank Six entity without a fixed form.
Simply drawing a little too close made Sein feel a vague sense of discomfort, caused by the divine law power of corruption, decay, and ruin it constantly radiated.
This was not the God of Decay deliberately targeting him; it was merely an unconscious emission.
No wonder this being was so unpopular within the Magus Alliance.
Who would want to befriend something like this?
Lingering near the God of Decay for too long could not only affect one’s lawful body, but might even invite “bad luck”.
The concept of luck itself had a solid theoretical foundation within the Magus Civilization.
Mages versed in occult and related fields were especially familiar with luck power factors.
Sein had encountered more than one law-wielding entity that mastered such laws.
The giant penguin in Reyno Star City, Faeloria’s Goddess of Luck, and the Goddess of Doom were all experts in this domain.
No one desired a streak of misfortune, which was why the God of Decay was viewed by many as a “walking harbinger of disaster”.
Aside from the natives of Decaying Plane itself, few beings within the Magus Alliance could tolerate its presence.
At this moment, the God of Decay had encircled the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature and launched a brutal assault.
In truth, it was the only opponent on this battlefield truly capable of fighting that Rank Six being.
Since entering the subspace battlefield, the two had already clashed numerous times.
Seiron had only been able to severely wound the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature in his earlier charge thanks to the God of Decay’s efforts.
Without the prior attrition inflicted by the God of Decay’s divine power, which slowed the Apocalypse World creature’s reactions, Seiron could never have subdued it so easily.
Even if the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature could not defeat Seiron head-on, it would at least have been able to escape.
A vast expanse of murky gray slime suddenly surged outward, thick and seemingly endless, completely engulfing the creature.
The gravely wounded Grand Apocalypse World powerhouse desperately called out for reinforcements.
Unfortunately, aside from its own legions and a handful of Rank Four and Rank Five Apocalypse World creatures rushing to its aid, no Gallant Federation forces had yet extended a helping hand.
The thick clouds of decadence surrounding the God of Decay could be regarded as its divine domain.
Divine domains were a favored tactic among powerhouses that followed faith-based systems.
Such domains not only granted immense boosts to the deity itself but also significantly enhanced the combat strength of its followers and subordinate legions.
For example, within and directly beneath the God of Decay’s domain, Rank Four and Rank Five Decaying World creatures experienced noticeable power increases. The ones who felt it most intensely, however, were the Decaying World legions.
Across the ground, vast murky waves surged forward relentlessly.
Countless low-tier Gallant Federation robots, weapons, and defensive fortifications were swallowed whole by the tide, reduced to corroded wreckage and crumbling ruins.
These murky waves were none other Decaying Plane’s creatures, packed together in endless masses.
They bore a superficial resemblance to hydro elementals, yet lacked any trace of purity. When gathered in such numbers, they inspired nothing but revulsion.
Even the Magus World knights and mages disliked these foul-smelling, utterly disgusting, slime-like beings.
Now trapped within the God of Decay’s divine domain, the Rank Six Grand Apocalypse World creature was subjected to the full force of the deity’s assault.
Even without Sein intervening, this Apocalypse World creature had almost no chance of escape.
The God of Decay excelled at weakening, encircling, and slowly grinding down its enemies.
Once caught in its grasp, the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature had far less chance of escaping than it would from most other Rank Six beings.
Moreover, the God of Decay showed no sense of urgency.
Barring any unexpected interference, it clearly intended to digest its prey at its own pace.
The light blades and energy rings the Apocalypse World creature swung in desperation had little effect within the divine domain.
Such attacks were unlikely to hurt the God of Decay.
It was simply too weakened—no wonder even a Rank Five entity like Sein dared to set his sights on it.
However, the sudden appearance of Sein and Fermera was clearly an unexpected variable for the God of Decay.
Within the Magus Alliance, regardless of rank, foreign deities inevitably felt inferior to the native powerhouses of Magus World.
Only the deities of the Titan World could
barely
be considered their equals to their Magus World peers.
Within the Magus Alliance, the God of Elves—an existence of immense divine power and prestige—had always shown exceptional courtesy toward the overlord-level powerhouses of the Magus Civilization.
It was said that more than ninety percent of Rank Six knights and mages from Magus World had visited the Grand Elven World and received gifts personally bestowed by the God of Elves.
If even an overlord-level being showed such respect to the Magus Civilization’s powerhouses, what right did lesser deities like the God of Decay have to put on airs before them?
The God of Decay did not recognize Sein. With its poor connections and limited awareness within the Magus Alliance, it had no idea that Sein was Master Feylis’ grand apprentice.
Yet when Sein led Fermera and the others straight toward the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature, the God of Decay hesitated for a full two seconds before choosing to disengage and withdraw.
Although its physical form began to recede from the battlefield, its divine domain did not disappear immediately.
Instead, it remained directly above the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature.

It was as if... it was politely handing the battlefield over to Sein.
It even seemed wary that the enemy might escape, maintaining control just long enough to ensure Sein could “claim the kill”.
This unexpected gesture left Sein momentarily at a loss.
Although he had leveraged Grandmaster Feylis’ prestige and the relationships he had built over recent years to secure legitimate benefits within the Magus Alliance, he had never once bullied others by exploiting his status.
And this was a Rank Six deity from the Magus Alliance!
Sein was genuinely grateful for the God of Decay’s actions and, admittedly, deeply tempted by the prospect of claiming the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature for himself.
Yet after only two seconds of consideration, he set aside those selfish thoughts. As the God of Decay prepared to leave, Sein spoke up.
“Let’s work together to finish this creature. Fermera is badly injured, and I’m not confident enough to defeat him alone. With your help, we can certainly eliminate this creature from Apocalypse World!”
His invitation was sincere.
Although Sein hated the divine aura emanating from the God of Decay, his expression was perfectly concealed behind the Faceless Mask.
The God of Decay had long endured ostracism within the Alliance, as well as being ordered around by the Magus Civilization’s upper echelons.
Caught off guard by Sein’s direct and earnest invitation, it paused for a moment before replying in a low voice, “Very well.”
It pressed down once more upon the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature, nearly smothering it.
As Sein and the God of Decay launched a joint assault on the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature, Feylis, the Rank Six mage observing this sector of the battlefield, nodded in quiet approval at her grand apprentice.
