Chapter 1699: Fallen Stars
Chapter 1699: Fallen Stars
The relentless explosions and battles erupting beneath the surface once again shattered the peace the Steel Ruins had known for tens of millions of years.
Given Sein’s current status and power, he rarely intervened in lower-tier battlefields anymore.
There was no need—and besides, he had his own enemies to deal with.
At the frontlines, the Leafborne God and the Giant Jaw King were locked in a fierce struggle with the Gallant Federation’s main fleet.
At least three destroyers, each possessing combat power comparable to a Rank Four threat, were taking part in the assault on the Leafborne God.
Beyond them, countless frigates and reconnaissance ships of various types swarmed the surrounding space.
In the face of the Gallant Federation’s assault, the Leafborne God still had its own countermeasures and innate wisdom despite being the weakest among the four foreign deities.
The Leafborne God was clearly not fighting alone.
After activating its divine form, the nearly two-kilometer-tall entity constantly shed green “pollen” from its body.
No—it was not pollen at all, but smaller Leafbornes clinging to their god’s body. Their sizes ranged from half a meter to several meters.
Despite their smaller size, these Leafbornes possessed remarkable strength and resilience.
Otherwise, they would never have earned the right to cling to the body of the deity they worshipped.
The Leafbornes formed a vast, living wall of flesh around the Leafborne God, shielding it from concentrated fire coming from all directions.
They also functioned much like the Gallant Federation’s small drones.
After peeling away from the Leafborne God, they charged fearlessly toward destroyers capable of threatening Rank Four creatures.
Of course, the overwhelming majority of these Leafbornes never made it anywhere near the Gallant Federation’s Rank Four destroyers.
They were either repelled by the DF fields generated by frigates or shot down one by one in midair by the fleet and its drones.
Even so, the Leafborne God’s battle tactics were truly eye-opening.
If those smaller flying insects ever managed to infiltrate the Gallant Federation’s main battleships, they would surely pose a serious threat to federal forces.
Many Magus Alliance creatures mockingly referred to Gallant Federation humans as squishy beings who hid inside metal boxes.
That description was not entirely inaccurate.
Given the actual physical constitution of federal humans, a single Leafborne less than half a meter long could likely take down several of them.
And the Federation forces facing the Giant Jaw King were no fewer than those confronting the Leafborne God.
The Gallant Federation also possessed its own reconnaissance and analysis systems. They had likely assessed the Giant Jaw King’s approximate combat strength long ago.
In addition to two sizable fleets converging on the Giant Jaw King, a massive mobile suit clearly possessing Rank Four combat power was making its way toward it.
Sein soon encountered his own adversary—a silver fleet advancing in a trident formation, steadily closing in on him.
Just as the Gallant Federation rapidly analyzed the strength and origins of the Magus Civilization legions participating in the battle, the Magus Civilization could likewise obtain general intelligence on the federal forces through various channels.
The silver fleet before Sein was clearly a newly arrived reinforcement.
He had received no prior intelligence on this fleet.
This was a fleet capable of engaging any Rank Five creature. Dozens of spiraling missiles shrieked through the air as its opening salvo against Sein.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A chain of explosions erupted around him.
The specially designed missiles shattered the magic shield around Sein’s body, yet caused little harm to his lawful body. Only faint traces of soot clung to the demonic scales on his body.
Sein brushed off his shoulder, then charged straight toward the silver fleet ahead, magic rod in hand.
Without any prompting, Yuri instinctively maneuvered the Burning Flame Unit into position diagonally behind him.
One good thing about fighting Gallant Federation fleets was that level disparities sometimes did not matter.
The silver fleet could threaten Rank Five beings, but if Rank Four creatures broke through its frigates’ defenses, the remaining vessels would be doomed.
Reina and Sia had not fought alongside Sein in quite some time, yet their coordination remained flawless.
Though normally slender, Reina preferred to maintain her mountain-like form in battle.
Resting on her shoulder was the heavy warhammer crafted by Sein himself.
The divine relic of the God of Brute Force radiated dazzling lawful light from the core of her hammer.
Each thunderous strike against the ground carved out an artificial crater hundreds of meters across.
Having activated her Baator Demon transformation, Sia bore a resemblance to Sein in his demonic lawful form.
She wielded a black greatsword engulfed in raging Purgatory Flames.
When she channeled her law power and battle qi into it, the blade turned blazing crimson.
The primary materials used in this greatsword had all been brought back by Sein from Faeloria. They were authentic metals native to Purgatory.
This greatsword, exceptionally well-suited to those of demonic bloodlines, had originally been meant as a gift from Sein to Natalya.
But with Natalya gravely wounded and hovering on the brink of death, this weapon was now wielded by Sia instead.
The battle between Sein’s legions and the Gallant Federation forces before him had been fierce from the very beginning.
When facing the silver fleet ahead, Sein abandoned conventional combat tactics. Instead, he pulled out a large number of magic bombs from his robe.
His supply of inert crystals had been heavily depleted during the earlier battles around the Marvelous Plane.
The magic bombs in his hand had been hastily crafted not long ago, using inert crystals obtained from the Grandlight Tech Center.
Given the mining conditions at the time, Sein managed to secure only one top-grade inert crystal, along with a considerable number of lesser-grade ones.
As the magic bombs flew from Sein’s hands, the forbidden spell he had prepared for so long was also unleashed in an instant.
Fallen Stars
!
This forbidden spell had evolved from two others–the
Everfire Hellscape
that Sein had once unleashed, and the
Northern Crown Constellation Meteor Shower
.
Both spells had required enormous amounts of magic spices, with meteorites serving as their mediums.
Trapped within subspace, Sein could not gather meteorite fragments in advance, nor could he afford lengthy incantations.
As a result, in recent years, he had developed a forbidden-level spell using magic bombs made with inert crystals as the core components.
This spell was only moderately effective against Rank Five federal mobile suits or super soldiers like Bond.
However, it proved devastatingly effective against large-scale fleet formations like this one.
Sein had originally assumed he would need to return to the vicinity of Blue Star to gather enough inert crystals.
Yet his visit to the Grandlight Tech Center allowed him to complete his strategic stockpile ahead of schedule.
Sparkling crimson points of light began to appear across the sky.
Despite being locked in continuous fire, the federation’s silver vessels seemed to sense the approach of something ominous.
